two little friends . . .

came to play yesterday,
just before their school year begins again . . .

mackie and trinny made
trees and hearts and horses and clouds . . .
and bowls too !

and mackie made a special request
that i show their beautiful work on my blog.

she is an avid reader of it, despite being only seven
so how could i say no,
that, and i love them both to bits . . .

clouds . . .

it is no secret that clouds feature in my work (and words)

so, as i'm back in the studio (slowly but surely) this week
i am making sure there is time for some new ideas
. . . or rather old ideas and
just finding the time to make them a reality . . .

i don't know how these bowls will turn out
clay is a mysterious creature . . .
and like all mysterious creatures they can
break and crack and twist and turn

so i will wait with breath (somewhat held)
until these new works are through the kiln,
to show you properly these
floating window cloud pieces. . .

i have an advance of my book now and will show you some
sneak peeks soon . . .
there's a few mentions of clouds in there too . . .

a once courageous heart
will be launched on march 5 at the gallery of modern art,

for those in brisbane who would like to come along
keep the evening free . . .

a wandering heart . . .

a wandering heart, her french boy, and her dear friend zoe,
came for a cup of tea over the weekend . . .

hours of sharing of stories, philosophies, and truths
brightened the humble little corner of the world where i dwell . . .
and has left a glow . . . still

one of the things we spoke of was the blog world,
with its quirks, richness and beauty,
but also what lies behind and between,
underneath and unseen . . .

but we agreed that regardless of its perplexities
we are grateful for it bringing us friendships,
contacts, and inspirations that
we may not have known previously . . .

and i am personally grateful for it bringing this
kind-hearted, kindred spirit into my life . . .

there is a wonderful interview with pia
in the current issue of dumbo feather pass it on
dumbo feather is worth a read every issue as it is . . .
but this one is extra special because of pia's words
and her beautiful and insightful slant on a creative life
. . . and life

sitting quietly

after such a crazy & rewarding lead up until christmas
i am taking some time away from the studio,
catching up with friends and family,
watching (and crying through) movies like this magical one
and easing into the year bit by bit . . .

as i looked upon a corner of my home this morning
i thought this little still life
is kind of how i feel at the moment . . .

still inspired,
but just sitting quietly,
letting the light of the day cast over me
waiting for the craziness to begin again,
but being still for now
